history or something like it

post LV-426:
- their trip back to gateway station went just fine nothing to see here certainly not a stray alien egg that got her mother infected with a queen xenomorph, caused a fire, and caused them to crash land on a prison planet where she drowned
- there was a court hearing and custody talks before her maternal grandparents ultimately agreed that they weren't equipped to primarily care for a child with PTSD who'd never lived on earth, ripley adopted her with agreed regular visitation rights, this went about as well as one could hope for given the circumstances that lead to the arrangement (and the fact that weyland-yutani had contacted her grandparents with the hope that they'd take her off of ripley's hands, severing their contact)
- she was homeschooled for a while as she and ripley adjusted to everything and tried to figure things out; weyland-yutani managed to craft a story that sounded plausible enough for people to question ripley's credibility; eventually they had enough of it, took the payout they'd been given, and bought a ship that took them to another station where people were more willing to listen
- where are hicks and bishop in all this? with them, i'm just focusing on the details of newt's backstory in particular

adulthood:
- managed to graduate high school and enter college early with a focus on engineering and navigation
- they eventually get wind of more xenomorphs
- stuff happens idk
